Abigail Kailipanio Pahia Gutcher, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 18 in the care of Hospice of Kona. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired switchboard operator for the former Kaneohe Naval Station and Liberty House department stores. Interment at a later date in Kaneohe Veterans Cemetery, Oahu. Survived by son, Gary (Karen Gutcher of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Sandra Decker of Waimea; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Richard John Ortega, 59, of Laupahoehoe died Sept. 10 at home. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, he was an art collector. Visitation 11 a.m.-noon Sunday at Hookena Beach Park. Celebration of life at noon. Michael Avelino Pilapil, 70, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 8 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Waialua, Oahu, he was a pastor for Kona Community Assembly of God Church, visiting minister at Kona Community Hospital and member of Filipino Honor Society, Assembly of God Men’s Fellowship and Ministers’ Association of Kona. Visitation 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Church in Kailua-Kona. Service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the church. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial at Kona Memorial Park, Holualoa. Casual attire. Derek John Alfredo Sentino, 43, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Aiea, Oahu, died Aug. 19 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a warehouseman. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a clerk for the county Real Property Tax Division, engineering clerk for the former Kona Surf Resort, front desk clerk for Kona Inn Resort and member of St. Michael’s Archangel Church, ILWU Local 142 and Akitsu Kumiai.
